How do I register for one of your programs?

The best way is to register here on our website - Registration.
You can also call us for questions at 630-825-TEEN, or 825-8336.  Payment in full is required at registration.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards.

What are the class sizes and the ratio of instructors to students?

The Teen Driving Academy limits each class to a maximum of 16 students, and we maintain an instructor to student ratio of at least one instructor for every four students.

What about bad weather?

Your teen will have to drive in all kinds of weather, so we will not cancel or postpone a scheduled training day due to inclement weather (other than lightning or severe storms).

What is your cancellation policy?

Full refunds will be offered for cancellations which are confirmed at least 7 calendar days before the scheduled training date.  Cancellations for any reason which occur less than 7 calendar days before a scheduled training date will result in 80% refund of the full payment.

Can I use my own car for the exercises?

No, not at this level of training. Each car brings it's own condition and vehicle dynamics, which are different from the cars that we have designed the drills around. The consistency in car dynamics and control characteristics helps us to create a safe environment for learning.

What is covered during the program?

The training program starts at 7:15 a.m. with registration and breakfast, with the first classroom session beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Behind the wheel drills take up most of the rest of the day, with a lunch break in between.  Drills include emergency braking, skid control, crash avoidance and vehicle familiarity and maintenance.  We will normally finish by 4:30 pm .

What does the Parent Program cover?

The Parent Program is an integral part of the Teen Driving Academy, and attendance will enhance the overall effectiveness of your teen’s ultimate experience.  For $99 parents are able to experience the drills that their teens will be performing. There will be a classroom session focusing on the major risk areas for teen car crashes and how you can actively work with your teen to reduce those risks. Next, we’ll go through a Crashproof Plan which addresses speeding, drinking, drugs, road rage, passengers, distractions and other risks and give you a step-by-step plan for helping keep your teen alive on the road.  Finally, you’ll receive a tour of the Autobahn facilities, and you will be able to do touring laps on the track, with an instructor, to review car balance and handling skills.

Does any part of the program present a risk for me or my teen?

Our exercises are conducted in settings with open spaces and plenty of safeguards.  The driving maneuvers and exercises are not conducted at high speeds, and our instructors ensure a safe, controlled environment.

Why does the teen program cost $495?

Comparable programs around the country can cost over $1,000 per day.  Other programs with extensive corporate sponsorship, or with large numbers of participants receiving minimal behind-the-wheel time and instruction, can cost less.  We have established a world-class program at the Autobahn, using a $30 million facility, $250,000 worth of new cars and highly skilled, professional instructors.  We are also unique in offering a parent program, because parents are an essential part of developing safe teen driving skills and attitudes.
